Botho University introduces Campus Management Ecosystem
03 Apr 2014
Higher education operates in an era of globalism, competition and economic uncertainty, says the managing director of Talisma Corporation.
Mr Raj Mruthyunjayappa said Institutes were being tasked to do more with less, even as enrollment surge or financial resources contract, therefore he said, there was expectation of greater automation and interactivity for academic and administrative services.
Mr Mruthyunjayappa was speaking at Botho University recently where the university was incorporating the Campus Management Ecosystem, a leading student information system (SIS). The system united campuses on-site and online, academics, administration and student services on a single platform.
It also complemented the university efforts to change from using paperwork and transform their services to online.
“Campus Management grew out of these converging forces. The technology is for people who are agile, responsive, and highly attuned to the global and local changes. With Campus Management Ecosystem institutions can bridge the education and technology divide that has overtime characterised this country,” Mr Mruthyunjayappa said.
Mr Mruthyunjayappa said students and faculty today were technologically savvy and wanted communications and access on their terms, noting that campus management system empowered institutions across the full range of communication channels, helping students to interact with admissions and career services on–demand using their preferred media.
He noted that the system automated functions and integrated all facets of operations effectively across departments and campuses to drive student and operational success while also lowering costs. “It facilitates information flow between all institutional functions, and also manages connections to outside stakeholders, researchers and alumni.”
“The administrators and faculty can leverage centralized data and automated workflows to speed and improve student services,” he added.
Vice-Chancellor Education & Quality Assurance, Mr Ananth Ram said they were currently rolling out Phase two and three of the Campus Management Ecosystem after completing Phase one which started in July last year.
He said the system had already started servicing students as they managed to effectively register students online using it in the recently ended Tertiary Fair. Ends
