Mother-daughter bond integral

03 Apr 2014

Mother-daughter bond is quite a vital part of life that each and every mother and daughter cannot live to ignore.

With a tight schedule as multi-tasking women in pursuit of creating wealth and a better future for their daughters, it is often hard for mothers and daughters to enjoy good bonding time and shared private moments.

Mother and daughter bonding and creation of time for each other is therefore of paramount importance, especially that mothers play big role models to their daughters.

It is in against this background that Bella Donna, a grooming international franchise company, took out to commemorate International Women’s Day, through a one-day camp for mothers and daughters.

The camp, which comes every March gave mothers the opportunity to share motherhood experiences and also learnt from experts.

They learnt that time creation for bonding especially with their daughters was very important as it would not only make them real role models to their daughters, but would also cushion their daughters from negative external influence.

Bella Donna also arranged grooming lessons for young girls on confidence, self-assertiveness and to always aspire to be the best among the rest.

The young girls were even given time to model on stage for their mothers who were also taken through various lessons such as skin care and make up, etiquette, as well as fitness and dieting.

Gender Affairs Department’s Chief Administration Officer, Ms Kamogelo Motsatsi in her remarks applauded Bella Donna for the initiative it has taken in assisting women to realise the need to celebrate their femininity.

Ms Motsatsi called on more women to come forth and approach the department for assistance of any kind in preaching gender affairs issues.

She said her department’s doors were open in as far as assisting women and girls realise their potential and take their right positions in contributing to the country’s growth in any aspect is concerned.

In an interview after the event, Bella Donna Director Ms Lolo Molosi said, the company wanted to celebrate international women’s day in a very special way, by bringing together mothers and daughters from all walks of life to share life experiences.

She said the company took cognisance of the day’s theme which is Inspiring Change and focused it on inspiring change especially among mothers and their daughters.

She said, the day was organised solely for mothers to find the importance of spending time to reflect on their relationships with their daughters.

“A girl child needs a lot of nurturing from a young age, for them to grow into fine women, and therefore Bella Donna is there to provide such a platform,” she said.

She said as they groom girls, they do not leave their mothers behind who most of the time plays role model to these girls.

She encouraged all mothers, to make it a habit to create bonding time with their daughters.

A day well spent as it was with mothers and daughters, one Montell Mosweu who was part of the audience, admitted to have spent her day well.

“Though I woke up not knowing how this day would come out I do not regret having spent it here, it was a worthwhile event to spend time here,” she said, showing how content she was for spending a day bonding with her 2 daughters. Ends
