UCCSA donates to RADS hostel

03 Apr 2014

Serowe United Congregational Church of Southern Africa (UCCSA) recently donated buckets to Malatswai Remote Area Dwellers (RAD) hostel.

The 85 buckets would be used by students for bathing. Speaking during the handing over of the buckets, the principal education officer in the central region, Ms Tebogo Rapitsenyana hailed the congregation’s efforts, saying the church was taking part in developing human resource.

Ms Rapitsenyana said such gestures were in line with the Ministry of Education and Skills Development's call for the community to afford them any assistance that could add value to education.

She said it showed that the church was living the country’s vision as through their efforts, the informed and educated nation pillar could be realised. She also said the congregation’s gesture is also a lesson to beneficiaries (students) to know the importance of the concept of helping the less privileged.

Ms Rapitsenyana implored the students to desist from vandalising hostels and school property in order that there is sustainable use of such resources so that they benefit upcoming generations.

For her part, Social and Community Development (S&CD) officer, Ms Elizabeth Motlhankane said that her department always struggles to help their clients because of budget constraints, but nonetheless appreciated the donation.

Ms Motlhankane said since the donation was from a church, it made the difference to students as most delinquents need spiritual intervention. ENDS
