Sri Lanka Muslim Society donates to Mogoditshane JSS

The donation of 20 computers by Sri Lanka Muslim Society to Mogoditshane Junior Secondary School would have a positive impact on the school’s performance, Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, who is also the Member of Parliament for Mogoditshane, Mr Patrick Masimolole has said.

Speaking at the donation ceremony, Mr Masimolole said the computer lab would address the problem experienced by the school in teaching computer related modules and practical courses.

The school results were promising since in 2013, the pass rate was 79 per cent from 70 percent in 2012, as such the assistant minister hoped that the availability of computers would help it to excel.

The Sri Lanka Muslim Society, he said replaced the old computers at Mogoditshane JSS with new ones and wired the Internet, valued at P130, 000.
Botswana Education Hub Performance Improvement Coordinator and Marketing Mr Billie Loeto stated that Adopt-a-school initiative had been growing positively since its inception.

He said he was happy about progress and achievements brought forward by those who partnered with MOESD in building the future of students. A lot of companies and individuals, he said were coming on board to assist government, thus helping government to save for other expenses.

Mr Loeto further implored the business community and individuals to continue assisting the education fraternity, saying even assistance like clearing school yards were accepted.

The Sri Lanka Muslim Society President Mr Abdul Wahid Mohamed Ashroff said as a social welfare organisation made of various second hand motor dealers in Mogoditshane, their role is to assist and give back to the community of Botswana.

He said as education is a powerful tool, the computer donation would aid students to be computer literate, a crucial skill in the 21st century. Ends
