Kgosi Aobakwe Phetlhu of Hebron in Good Hope Sub-district says a market day is significant as it helps the local business community to market their products.
Speaking at the market day held at Hebron kgotla, Mr Phetlhu said the market day allowed entrepreneurs to network with their counterparts to promote the quality of their products.
He said by showcasing their products and participating in the market day, entrepreneurs were able to share ideas with others and build a network data base that will allow them to contact each other should a need for follow up arise.
Assistant District Commissioner at Good Hope Sub-District Council, Mr Innocent Maotwe said the objective of the day was to promote local economic empowerment by assisting locals to benefit from poverty eradication and other government programmes.
Mr Maotwe noted that the market day enabled producers to exhibit and sell their products, adding that entrepreneurs will after identifying the fast moving consumer product in terms of sales, embark on mass production of such commodity.
“Market day helps entrepreneurs to build and enhance relationships with current and future customers. This is a way of communicating to their customers that they should take this day seriously” said Mr. Maotwe.
He advised entrepreneurs to have patience and be devoted to their businesses saying that if their businesses are not doing well now, they will grow up gradually to become big enterprises in the coming years.
He said that as God gave us different talents, entrepreneurs should also promote other entrepreneurs by buying their products so that their business grow and help the country refrain from buying produce from neighbouring countries.
Ms Rachel Ditlhabi, a resident of Hebron who brought her herbal trees and showcased to the consumers explained that she is very thankful for the market day because by bringing her herbs to the Kgotla, she got the opportunity to interact with potential buyers and was able to explain to them the importance of planting and selling trees.
