Sefhare youth walks for charity

A 21-year-old young man from Sefhare started his 295 km charity walk, March 24, in an attempt to raise money for patients at Sefhare Primary Hospital.

The charity walk was estimated to take five working days and will end at Gaborone bus rank on March 29. In an interview, Mr Baepi Baepi who is a student at Madiba Brigade in Mahalapye said he intended to raise P300 000 from the charity walk.

He said he realised the Patient Social Welfare Committee at Sefhare Primary Hospital was doing a good job and needed the support from the community. One of the members of the Patient Social Welfare Committee at Sefhare hospital, Pastor Colia Bathami said their committee catered for needy patients.

He said the main purpose of the committee was to provide in-patients and out-patients with necessities such as toiletry and recreation. He said the committee also raised funds towards patient’s treatment related to prosthesis such as crutches and walking frames.

Pastor Bathami said the committee also had the job of arranging Christmas party for in-patients. “We also assist needy patients who are referred to referral hospitals with food packages, while the hospital assists with road travel warrants”, he said.

He said the charity walk, dubbed Baepi Baepi’s Charity Walk would benefit the committee with the money raised. Ends
