Africa Alliance empowers women golfers

25 Mar 2014

Women In Business Association (WIBA) held a one-day golf tournament, which saw four promising women golf players each getting a P1 000 investment in Africa Alliance Botswana Value Fund.

The women golfers, who won with 91 points, were Minkie Molatlhegi, Julie Furr, Lesedi Mooka and Lebo Morebodi. Africa Alliance sponsored the women’s tournament to the tune of P12 800 and the company’s chief executive officer, Don Gaetsaloe, said the company was considering sponsoring the tournament annually.

Gaetsaloe said at the prize giving ceremony that African Alliance, which was a highly regulated business company, also managed international money from Gaborone, supported WIBA in terms of gender issues and that the company valued the contribution of golf to the sporting industry.

Winning on a count back on position two with 90 points was the team of John Stoneham, Leo Huvaya, Andrew Du-Plessis and Jimmy. The four players won themselves cash prices.

Third on the spot also with 90 points were Kate Senye, Meempat Shankar, Usha Singhal and SK Singhal. They went home P600 richer. WIBA is an association that strives to advocate equality for women in the workplace through awareness, activism, education and empowerment.

It exists to connect women to learn, play and enjoy golf for business and for fun. Since its inception in 90s, WIBA has served as a portal to golf and touched the lives of tens of thousands of women. Ends
