South East Girls vow to compete in super league
24 Mar 2014
Former elite women’s football league campaigner, South East Girls have not gained automatic promotion to the women’s supper league just to add numbers.
The team’s coach, Kitso Masi expressed this after watching his side escape with a 2-1 win over Lulu Sporting Club on Saturday March 22 at SEDYEA grounds.
South East Girls who had been a force to reckon with since being relegated to the lower division a season ago have already booked their return to the women’s elite league. According to Masi, they used their time in the lower division to correct their mistakes and build a formidable force.
“About going to Super league, we are going to compete, we have built a strong team and we guarantee that we will be able to compete,” he added.
South East Girls had also been boosted by the return of the former national team player, Nthabiseng Mogatle, who was however quite against Lulu Sporting Club.
Mogatle failed to dominate the middle of the park but his coach was quick to point that the team was already trying different combinations for the next season.
Further, Masi noted that he gave some of their players who have not played a chance to play in order to build a depth and experience which will be needed next season.
For his part, Lulu Sporting Club coach, Oaitse Moeti said his team played well, considering that their hosts have secured a promotion. However, he pointed that they could have at least salvaged a draw from the game but they were disadvantaged by errors committed by the referee.
The visitors’ side was the first to find the back of the net through Marea Mpule before Koketso Modisenyane leveled the score in the first half.
The home side left it very late to score in the dying minutes through Mogatle after the visitors had squandered their numerous chances. Both teams are left with one match to wrap their campaigns. Ends
