Ministry of Youth, Sports and Culture employees  in Francistown have donated over P2 000 to Batho Madigele, a Kanye boy diagnosed with a kidney disease.

The donation was handed to his family at on February 13. Batho was diagnosed with chronic renal failure, (kidney disease) in 2011. He was placed on automated peritoneal dialysis machine while waiting for kidney operation. His sister, Kagelelo promised to donate her kidney.

Handing over the donation, youth officer, Mr Sabatha Mhatlhe said they raised the money through contributions from their Francistown colleagues. He  stated that they read the article in the DailyNews about Batho’s condition.

Batho’s father Mr, Kebaabetswe Madigele thanked the officers for their compassion. He said the envisaged operation was taking too long because of tests that were being done on Batho’s sister.

He thanked the Ministry of Health, who paid for the treatment and dialysis machine. He said government was willing to assist them during the operation which had been scheduled for South Africa.

His mother, Mrs Nametso Madigele said Batho was admitted at SDA hospital in Kanye last week and was transferred to Princess Marina Hospital.

Councilor for Mmatshitswane, Mr Mosimanegape Tshane thanked the officers for the donation, which he said was the sign of a caring nation. He appealed to other stakeholders including government departments to follow suit.  ENDS
