Masimolole unaware of Maboane situation
20 Mar 2014
The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Patrick Masimolole says he is not aware that a Standard 4 class at Maboane Primary School in Letlhakeng West Constituency has been taught by different teachers ever since they started school in 2010.
Answering a question in Parliament , Minister Masimolole said the class was taught by two permanent teachers in Standard 1 and in Standard 2, the class was taught by a permanent and a temporary teacher as the former went for further studies. He said the same scenario continued in Standard 3, Standard 4 and presently in Standard 5.
He told Parliament that the reason for pairing a permanent teacher and a temporary teacher was meant to give the temporary teachers the necessary guidance and experience needed. The arrangement, he noted, had not affected their performance at all, as the permanent teacher provided guidance to the temporary teacher.
In addition, he said it must also be noted that the temporary teacher was qualified. He said, however, that the ministry through its structures at the region and sub-region would continue to monitor progress of the students in all standards in the school to improve performance.
MP for Letlhakeng West, Mr Ngaka Ngaka had asked the minister if he was aware of a Standard 4 class at Maboane Primary School that has been taught by different temporary teachers ever since they started school in 2010. Mr Ngaka also wanted to know how this affected their performance and how the situation would be addressed. Ends
