Santos beat Nico
17 Mar 2014
Nico United coach Kenneth Mogae has described his side’s encounter with visiting Uniao Flamengo Santos as “one game one has to forget quickly”
The visiting Gabane side walloped the hosts 6-3 at their own backyard over the weekend in Selebi Phikwe in the beMOBILE Premier League encounter.
In a post-match interview, Mogae was concerned about the dismal performance his players put up and said they were, “too complacent from the start”.
“We were not in the game as if we did not have a warm up and did not function as a unit,” he said.
The Nico mentor however said the game of football was also characterised by luck which did also not fall on his side on the day.
His team only came up in the second half but failed to rise to the occasion, he stated.
“This is one game that one would like to forget because one cannot say Santos were tactically better than us but were scoring goals from nowhere” he added.
Mogae said he was concerned that the remaining games were dangerous because Nico United would be playing against relegation candidates who would fight for survival. Among the relegation candidates is Notwane that Nico plays this weekend. With 22 points, Santos is on a mission to avoid relegation. ENDS
