The BotswanaPost Recruitment Policy requires that all positions including those for drivers, are advertised nationally and criterion as stipulated by way of the position requirements, is then applied to find the most suitable candidate.

The successful candidates then become part of the pool and can be deployed to any location in the country where there is need. Similarly, serving employees can be transferred to any location across the country to fill up vacancies which arise.

Answering a question from MP for Okavango, Mr Bagalatia Arone, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Nonofo Molefhi said he was engaging BotswanaPost to relook at the policy for the industrial class cadre to consider giving priority to the local resources whilst recruiting for positions.

MP Arone had asked Minister Molefhi why the two driver posts at Shakawe Post Office were not advertised locally, given that there are many unemployed qualified drivers in and around Shakawe. ENDS
