Forest vow to strengthen lead
06 Mar 2014
Black Forest will be attempting to strengthen their lead in the Debswana First Division South League when they engage Rolling Boys at the SSG Ground on Sunday afternoon (March 9).
The Mmankgodi-based first division rookies ascended to the top of the log last weekend and are now in firm control of a four-team tussle for promotion to the be Mobile Premier League.
Forest have collected 31 points and are one point ahead of second placed Letlapeng, with Rolling Boys a further four points behind. Jwaneng Comets, on fourth spot with 25 points, is another team that is still in pursuit of promotion.
And ahead of their tricky fixture against Rolling Boys, Forest team manager, Mompati Ditiro said his young team was targeting another win as it continued its relentless charge for promotion. The confident official said Rolling Boys would not pose many problems to them.
“We have played against them before and we know exactly how they play, so I believe we will beat them. We are well prepared for the match and the players are oozing confidence after we replaced Letlapeng at the top of the log,” he said.
Should third placed Rolling Boys shock the log-leaders, they would cut the margin between the two to just two points. That will also give second placed Letlapeng an opportunity to leapfrog the log-leaders if they beat Mochudi Buffaloes at the Siga Ground on Sunday.
Ditiro said his team stood a great chance of gaining promotion. Forest, which are presently on a 15 match unbeaten run, were promoted to the first division at the end of last season.
Before that they were playing in the regional league structures. But after a fairytale season in which they surprised many teams, they find themselves knocking on the door to the premier league.
“It has always been our intention to be promoted to the premier league. And I believe we stand a great chance with the team which we have which is hungry for success,” said Ditiro.
