Parliament has been informed that six departmental technical disability steering committees have been established under the Ministry of Trade and Industry.

Answering a question in Parliament on Tuesday, the Assistant Minister of Trade and Industry, Mr Keletso Rakhudu said 13 associations for People Living with Disabilities (PLWDS) had been formed across the country. He said out of the 13 associations, members of eight associations were trained in business and technical skills.

The assistant minister said his ministry was committed to empowering People Living With Disabilities by translating the ministry’s Affirmative Action Plan for the implementation of Disability policy into tangible empowerment projects.

MP for Shoshong, Mr Phillip Makgalemele had asked if the minister had any affirmative strategy of ensuring that PLWDS benefited from the Economic Diversification Drive (EDD) and also to provide as an annexure evidence of her delivery on the matter. ENDS
