Vicomates hammer Fighters
12 Feb 2013
Vicomates defeated Mogoditshane Fighters girls 5- 1 at Marulamantsi Community Junior Secondary School grounds over the weekend.
The loss ensured the bottom placed Fighters remained relegation candidates as Vicomates inched their way up from the axe. Fighters remained on position 17 while Vicomates moved to position 15 on the AT&T Monnnakgotla women football league log.
Vicomates openend their scoreboard through a squared ball from Malefo Tshekiso to Mpho Rakhudu who hit the net. Fighters’ Gosatla Sentsima almost levelled the score in the eighth minute but Sheila Tshekoeng was at the right place to save Vicomates.
Rakhudu yet again scored in the 12th minute after Fighters’ defence deflected a corner kick which found her unmarked outside the box. Fighters had a chance in the 19th minute as Thutego Godisang was one on one with goalkeeper but sent the ball wide.
Tshekiso proved to be a nightmare for Fighters when she headed home a corner in the 28th minute to make it 3- 0. Fighters came back in the second half with vigour and launched a vicious attack that saw Lesedi Tshukudi socring what would become the team’s consolation goal.
However, Fighters were no match for Vicomates whose slippery Nombizile Walebowa easily weaselled past their porous defense to make the scoreline 4- 1.
Walebowa once again broke the hearts of Fighters fans when she converted a Mallya Makute cross at the mouth of the goalpost to make the score 5- 1. ENDS
