Francistown is set to come alive as disco sensation Godfrey Thini, affectionately known as GNT in the music industry, hosts the GNT Music Festival 2026 on Saturday, at Molapo Leisure Garden.
Thini, the Tutume-born star, has taken Botswana by storm through his Disco music. His latest album, Waka ke Waka has made amazing impact in the music industry and is loved by all, from children to adults.
He will be joined by an outstanding line-up of local artists including Chokoma, Juu Matere, Han C, Dr Vom, DJ Mawee and others.
At a recent press conference in Francistown, Thini said he developed love for music at a young age and had been in the music industry for quite some time now.
He said the weekend festival will not be just about music.
Under the tagline: Bhona GNT Gase Wa Bosigo Fela, Le Motshegare O Teng, the festival will be family friendly with activities such as face painting, quad biking, swimming, jumping castle, treasure hunt, sack and egg race, dance competition and giveaways.
The day-time and family-oriented part of the festival will run from 10am to 6pm, while the night-time phase will kick-off off in true festival spirit at 6pm until 6am the next day for adult revellers.
Thini promised an outstanding performance as his way of appreciating Batswana for their support.
“I have seen an overwhelming support of Batswana; their love for my music is heart-warming, so I promise nothing but the best,” he said.
Speaking about the Disco genre, he said though the music was commonly loved by adults, young people had since joined in, and were showing deep interest in it.
The preparations for the festival are proceeding smoothly. Tickets are selling at P120 early bird, P170 standard, P200 at the gate and P400 for VIP access, while kids will pay P50. ENDS
