Sera turns Botswana heritage into luxury

From Ramotswa to the luxury market, entrepreneur Ofanna Sera is putting Botswana's heritage on the map through his proudly Botswana-owned brand, Okavango Signature.
Inspired by the beauty of the Okavango Delta, Sera has introduced the Delta Flow Edition, a collection of timepieces whose dials reflect the Delta's intricate waterways, while the casebacks feature mokoro engravings celebrating its cultural heritage.
"It is not simply about telling time but wearing a story," he said.
Drawing on his background in tourism, hospitality, gemology and the diamond industry, Sera said he combined craftsmanship, precision and African storytelling to create distinctive luxury products.
“The watches feature sapphire crystal, Japanese Miyota quartz movement, 316L stainless steel cases and 50-metre water resistance,” he said.
Already available at Sunglasses Boutique in Gaborone and Phusha BW Store at Sir Seretse Khama International Airport, the brand is looking to expand into leather goods and jewellery, while exploring international markets.
Sera said his ambition went beyond selling watches as he hoped to build a globally recognised Botswana luxury brand, create employment opportunities and demonstrate that world-class brands can be born locally.
For him, Okavango Signature is about giving the world a chance to wear a piece of Botswana. ENDS
