28 Oct 2026
The first edition of the 21.1km Trans-Kalahari Corridor and Boot Camp Challenge marathon will be held at Lobatse Sports Complex on October 31.
Speaking in an interview, event coordinator, Lefika Kedise said the main purpose of the marathon was to raise funds for supporting the Agricultural Urbanisation Project, through which the community is being encouraged to produce food anywhere possible and permissible to do so.
Kedise said the project would be similar to backyard gardening and would be targeted at encouraging self-reliance within the community.
He revealed that the route would start from and end at the Lobatse Sports Complex, pass through Ozone to Pioneer border gate for those in 5km and 10km marathon categories.
Participants for the 21.1km marathon will start at the Lobatse Sports Complex and use Trans-Kalahari Corridor to the Lobatse-Kanye roundabout and then return to the finishing point.
He highlighted that there was no age restriction for registration and thus encouraged members of the community to take part in numbers. He noted that registration was done by link and the registration fee was P150 regardless of the age.
Additionally, he said companies were allowed to register their members to participate in groups of 10 at a fee of P1,000. ENDS
