Stakeholders deserve feedback - Masisi
04 Mar 2014
The Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi says it is important for government institutions to give feedback to their stakeholders regarding projects they undertake together.
Speaking after receiving a P25 000 cheque from the Old Apostolic Church at the Office of the President for the National Disaster Relief Fund, Minister Masisi said feedback was not only important for those who had donated but also for government because it enabled government in terms of quality performance, strengths and weaknesses.
In this regard, the minister said it was equally important for the Office of the Disaster Management to provide feedback to the Old Apostolic Church on how their money had been used and this would become a practice as the country move forward.
Mr Masisi, whose ministry portfolio covers the mandate of the disaster management office said the country had been hard-hit by floods in the northern part with over 100 millimetres of rainfall recorded to have fallen.
He thanked the Old Apostolic Church for continuing to donate to the needy people adding that the good gesture was consistant with the ideals of Vision 2016 and that what the church was doing was not odd to what it preached.
He also explained that it was pleasing to see more organisations including churches forthcoming towards the Presidential Housing Appeal and that such a motivation could only be achieved when feedback was given.
For his part, the Old Apostolic Church Overseer Mr Dihelang Tsheko outlined a number of donations that the church contributed in the past that included donating money to the Home Based Care and STD unit, towards the Mozambique flood relief, donating to Sponsor-A-Child Fund, and the building of two houses for destitutes by the church congregation based in Francistown
The church had also donated to the flood victims in the Okavango area in 2009 and the Masiela Trust Fund.
Mr Tsheko further said the church had implemented a comprehensive project on the construction of houses and had already donated the houses to the destitute people of Monarch, Ncojane, Sese, Otse, Moshaneng, Tutume, Oliphant, Maun, and Werda while the Modipane house would be handed at the end of this month.
Other houses that will be donated in future are currently under construction at Mokubilo, Shoshong, Tsolamosese, Metsimotlhabe, Tonota and Bonwapitse in Mahalapye.
Mr Tsheko stated that the Old Apostolic Church also intends to establish funds to assist the sick in hospitals and make contribution towards the Home Based Care units as well as orphanage. ENDS
