The P200,000 donation to Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital children’s ward by BET267 is more than just a financial contribution; it is an investment in people and hope, and a demonstration that partnership and compassion can make a difference in the community.
The donation, which was handed over on October 21, is proceeds from the BET267 Walala Wasala charity tournament which was held in Francistown in August, featuring four northern teams, Enesia FC, TAFIC FC, Tonota FC and Orapa United.
Speaking on behalf of Walala Wasala Charity Spectacular, local organising committee representative Saadia Rossenkhan thanked BET267 for sponsoring Walala Wasala and believing in its vision.
Ms Rossenkhan said the funds would be channelled towards the paediatric unit, in consultation with the hospital, to improve the welfare of young patients and support families during difficult moments.
For his part, BET267 director, Mpho Chamo said the donation fostered the spirit of unity, of compassion and that of giving back to the community.
Chamo said BET267 believed in using sport and entertainment to drive positive social impact, adding that the charity tournament was not just about football, but was also about coming together for a greater purpose. He appreciated the teams that took part, describing their participation as a commendable example of collaborating for a good cause. He said the company was proud to be associated with an initiative that brings hope to children and pledged continued support for community development initiatives.
Meanwhile, Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital superintendent Dr Irvan Kgetse extended heartfelt gratitude to BET267 and Walala Wasala Charity Spectacular for the gesture.
Dr Kgetse said the donation would help improve children’s welfare and give them comfort during their stay at the hospital.
“Children come here in distress so that they can recover. This gift will help us make their stay more comfortable and it really means a lot for them,” he said.
Dr Kgetse said the hospital would ensure the funds were used to address pressing needs within the children’s ward. ENDS
