Toise redefines strength of women

While women naturally possess the ability to manage multiple responsibilities, their strength must be nurtured through external support.
This is the central theme of Mosadi: Expected, Exhausted, Essential, the new book by Naomi Toise.
Published by Life Changing Publishers, the book gives fresh meaning to what a woman’s strength looks like in the modern era.
Toise made her debut with her memoir, What Am I Bringing to 30?, a reflective and honest account of the lessons, missteps and defining moments that shaped her journey before turning 30.
With Mosadi, her second release, she turns her voice towards the strength, complexity and responsibilities, their strength must be nurtured through external support.

With Mosadi, her second release, she turns her voice towards the strength, complexity and everyday realities of womanhood.
Inspired by her experiences and the women around her, Toise’s book addresses the significant yet often unrecognised role women play in society. It aims to celebrate their contributions while serving as a guide for others to acknowledge and appreciate their value.
“It is an eye-opener to the people supporting her, a reminder that she is a treasure to society,” Toise explains in an interview.
Originally titled Women: The Many Hats They Wear, the book explores the barriers that demand resilience from women, emphasising how societal norms frequently confine them to predetermined standards.
The book argues that women often have to put in twice the effort for a fraction of the recognition given to men, particularly those balancing careers and family life.
The book also addresses the heavy burden of societal expectations placed on female primary caregivers.
“Women are the primary anchors of society and so many people depend on them. It is far more convenient for people to rely on a woman than a man when it comes to caregiving, making a home or things of that nature,” Toise says, adding that such reality forces women to continually push through challenges.
Drawing from her personal life as a professional and mother, she reflects on the constant struggle to balance these roles without an equitable distribution of responsibilities.
Consequently, Toise emphasises the need for men to shift their perspectives and recognise women’s vital capabilities for progress.
She advocates for women’s inclusion in leadership roles without forcing them to compromise their identity, calling for a cultural transformation in how society values women’s contributions.
Ultimately, Toise hopes Mosadi: Expected, Exhausted, Essential will ignite essential conversations among young women and girls, particularly surrounding taboo subjects and systemic inequities.
Above all, she envisions the book empowering women to find confidence, amplify their voices and affirm their right to speak up in an evolving world. ENDS
