Road re-construction project at 34 per cent
08 Oct 2026
The A3 road re-construction project, section two and three of the Francistown-Nata corridor, is said to be at 34 per cent against the targeted 39 per cent.
The re-construction of the two sections, which started on August 2025 and scheduled for completion August next year, stretches from Mathangwane to Kutamogoree.
Briefing the leadership of the affected villages at Mosetse site offices on Tuesday, Okavango Africa Consortium representative, Mr Boyce Mohutsiwa said the company was working on taking advantage of the coming dry spell to cover lost time attributed to excessive wet conditions. He said the companies working on the two sections of the road had about 302 employees with locals making taking 96 per cent.
Nevertheless, he pointed out that although they had planned to have the ratio of men against women to be 70:30, women made only 18 per cent.
He said they were faced with challenges of fuel theft, which was also derailing progress of the project.
He said the incidents pointed to organized crime, adding that it had come to their attention that most of the stolen fuel was sold in Francistown.
Therefore, he appealed to the leadership to help in curbing the crime. ENDS
