Local tennis sensational player, Ntungamili Raguin’s star continues to rise as he recently won the doubles and singles titles at the ITF J200 Miki tournament in Japan, becoming the first Motswana to achieve such a feat. 

On Sunday, Ntungamili put up a sterling performance in the singles, as he beat the tournament’s No.1 seed, Musatafa Ege Sik of Australia 1-6,6-3,6-3.

In the doubles on Saturday, Ntungamili and his partner, Mikaeel Ali Baig of Pakistan won 7-5,6-2 against top seeds Musatafa Ege Sik and Taiki Takizawa both from Australia.

These achievements, according to Botswana Tennis Association president Oaitse Thipe were some of the greatest milestones for both Ntungamili and the association.

He said Ntungamili had already proven his dominance on the continent winning titles in Kenya, Algeria and Uganda.

“Winning a tough draw in Japan shows Ntungas resilience and commitment, and this victory will place him in the World Junior Top 50,” he said.

He said finishing the year with these achievement puts Ntungamili in a prime position to earn seeding for the next grand slams. 

Furthermore, he said their focus for the rest of the year was to help him maintain the momentum as he began his transition into the professional ranks. ENDS
