Takuwa Natural Products has committed P309,000 toward the Nkange Top 8 over two years, with P209,000 allocated to the
tournament and P100,000 earmarked for community initiatives.
The sponsorship was unveiled in Gaborone where Takuwa Natural Products founder, Dr David Tanyala Takuwa, said the decision to
support the tournament was influenced by his roots in Nkange and his desire to contribute to the community.
Takuwa said the partnership would also provide an opportunity to increase the visibility of his company while supporting activities that would bring people together.
He said the sponsorship should not be viewed as a one-season arrangement, but as the beginning of a long term partnership with Nkange Top 8.
Takuwa emphasised the importance of businesses giving back to the communities from which they originate,
saying such partnerships should ultimately make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.
For his part, Nkange Top 8 chairperson, Poloko Bernard, said the sponsorship would strengthen the tournament
while allowing the association to support activities beyond football.
Bernard said Nkange Top 8 currently had 12 clubs comprising senior and junior
teams, reflecting its focus on football development and nurturing young talent.
He said the tournament would run from December 25, 2026 to January 1, 2027,
providing a platform for young people and bringing communities together during the festive season.
“Football is our dream, but our destination is community development,” he said.
Bernard said the P100,000 allocated to community initiatives would support activities including
the Nkange Beauty Pageantry and Nkange Marathon, which he said performed well last year.
He said the association wanted to build on the success of the initiatives while creating more opportunities for people in the constituency.
Bernard said the association would also host a charity cup from December 19 to 20 to raise funds for community initiatives.
He said the association was also considering introducing a Champions Cup bringing together champions from leagues within the constituency.
Bernard said sport played an important role in youth development by promoting discipline, teamwork, leadership and confidence.
He said the association wanted Nkange Top 8 to leave a legacy that extended beyond trophies and results. ENDS
