Letshego Holdings extends support to Phatsimo JSS

Letshego Holdings has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting education and nurturing young minds by extending its support to Phatsimo Junior Secondary School in Selebi Phikwe.
The partnership will strengthen the school’s efforts to improve academic performance while empowering learners.
Speaking during the annual prize-giving event, which also marked the school’s 30th anniversary, the Managing Director of Letshego Holdings, Mr Kgotso Bannalotlhe, explained that Letshego Holdings would continuously make efforts to invest in education as a foundation for developing skilled and productive citizens.
Mr Bannalotlhe said for about three consecutive years, Letshego Holdings had walked alongside Phatsimo JSS, contributing over P100,000 toward the school.
This year, a further contribution of P50,000 was made as part of the school’s 30th anniversary.
“Letshego Holdings intends to continuously work with the school and education authorities toward formally adopting the school to establish a collaborative partnership that will provide necessary support such as career guidance, digital skills, and mentorship, among others,” he said.
He added that this would also complement government efforts toward improving the academic landscape, creating an environment in which learners could excel beyond the classroom.
For his part, Minister of Local Government and Traditional Affairs, Mr Ketlhalefile Motshegwa urged the community to reflect on their stewardship and collective responsibility, which played a significant role in the learners’ academic performance, making Phatsimo Junior Secondary School’s 30-year academic journey a success story.
He noted that for the past 30 years, the school had demonstrated good academic performance, adding that it once ranked third in the national academic rankings.
He said the achievement was made possible by the continued commitment, collaboration, and support between teachers and the community.
Celebrated under the theme: Phatsimo JSS: Reclaiming its Academic Glory and Excellence, Mr Motshegwa said the prize-giving served not only to reward excelling learners, but also as a platform for stakeholders to map a way forward on the fundamental importance of protecting children, ensuring their well-being, and providing them with opportunities for a safe and healthy academic environment.
“Phatsimo JSS is one of the top-performing schools in the town of Selebi Phikwe, and for it to continue attaining good grades, relevant stakeholders should continuously invest in providing the necessary support,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the school, Phatsimo school head, Dr Oreeditse Ramothonyana, explained that the school one of the learning institutions that performed well in the Junior Certificate Examinations both in Selebi Phikwe and across the country.
Through stakeholders’ collaboration and commitment, Dr Ramothonyana said teachers and support staff were determined to improve the school’s performance in the coming examinations. ENDS
