Kanye launches Month of Prayer
05 Sep 2026
Kanye District Council on September 4 aunched the Month of Prayer in Moshana under the theme: Let There Be Life.
Botswana has set aside September as the National Month of Prayer, dedicated to prayer, reflection, unity, and seeking God’s guidance for the nation
Speaking at the launch, Mohumagadi Mmasetsibi Gaseitsiwe of Bangwaketse said the theme carried both spiritual and practical urgency.
Life, she noted, was not merely about breathing, but about living with purpose, dignity and hope and long enough to see dreams fulfilled and children grow.
She highlighted Botswana’s remarkable progress against HIV.
The Botswana AIDS Impact Survey V of 2021 showed that 96.1 per cent of people living with HIV know their status, 98.3 per cent of those who know their status are on antiretroviral treatment and 97.1 per cent of those on treatment are virally suppressed, all exceeding the 90 per cent targets.
Mohumgadi Gaseitsiwe added that Botswana became the first country in Africa to achieve and surpass the UNAIDS 95-95-95 goals, saying new HIV infections had fallen by 71 per cent since 2005, while mother-to-child transmission had dropped below 2 per cent. ENDS
