Telemedicine project successful

03 Mar 2014

The telemedicine project is a success because Ghanzi Primary Hospital, which has no specialist radiologists, can send X-ray images to the radiologist at Princess Marina Hospital for interpretation and feedback to facilitate diagnosis and management of more complex cases.

This was said by the Minister of Health, Dr John Seakgosing when responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Maun East, Mr Frank Ramsden in Parliament.

Dr Seakgosing said they still had some maintenance challenges at Nyangabgwe, Marina and Ghanzi hospitals, which the ministry was still addressing with the equipment maintenance companies.

Furthermore, he said, the rollout to other health facilities would be considered in the near future after tele-radiography challenges have been addressed.

MP Ramsden had asked the minister if the telemedicine experiment at the three health facilities is a success and if so, when would it be rolled out to other hospitals in the country. ENDS
