Quality audit teams benefit government
03 Mar 2014
Parliament has been told that the use of quality audit teams for projects inspection at construction phase has been beneficial to government.
Minister of Infrastructure, Science and Technology, Mr Johnnie Swartz explained to Parliament on February 27 that the teams were put in place to inspect projects during construction and before takeover of facilities by government.
Responding to a question from the Member of Parliament for Lobatse, Mr Nehemiah Modubule, the minister said since the establishment of these teams, there had been a substantial reduction in the number of call-outs during the defects notification periods compared to the past when projects were accepted from consultants and contractors without any audits.
Mr Swartz said another key benefit of these teams was that they were also used to verify the suitability of houses and other properties which became available in the market for government.
MP Modubule had asked the minister to state the results achieved by the introduction of construction Quality Audit Teams. ENDS
