Dolphins concluded a flawless season as they clinched the Botswana Basketball League South title on Sunday evening with a dominant 99-61 scoreline against Police V at Ba Isago courts in the finals of the southern league top 4 championship games. 

 Top seeded Dolphins booked a place in the final after going past Jwaneng Diamond Bullets 103-64 in the semifinal. On the other hand, Police V, had a grueling battle against BDF V, securing a narrow win of 74-72 for a spot in the final match.

With both teams on the back of impressive semifinal victories, Dolphins were on paper hot favorites to triumph over their much experienced opponents and they went into the match oozing with confidence boosted by a dominant and unbeaten run during the season, averaging over 100 baskets a game. 

Having defeated Police V twice in the regular seasons, Dolphins had a 100 percent win record going into the championship series and were out to complete what has been an incredible season by their standards.

The youthful Dolphins raced out of the blocks in the first quarter leading the much experienced Police 11-0 in the first five minutes of the game before Police V time out call.  

 Dolphins Captain, Kesaobaka Ndawanyana and supporting cast of experienced national team player Thuto Gaborone and German national Adrian Breitlauch lead the offence from the first buzzer to give the Dolphins a 17 points lead before the first half interval.

In a game that was marred by turnovers on both sides, Police V struggled offensively, even further in the third quarter managing only 12 points to end the quarter trailing 68-43.

With tired legs and minds, things went haywire for Police with Dolphins reflecting well on the offensive side of the court.

Police were however their own worst enemy, hitting just 18 points from the field in the final quarter with Dolphins staging a spirited fourth quarter performance with five turnover possession play and a series of fast break layup baskets to put the game far beyond their opponent reach.

Championship victory guaranteed Dolphins a ticket for the national championship against the Northern league champions Maun Delta Spirit to be played later during the year. ends
