National Disaster Management Office director and also chairperson of National Emergency Command Centre, Mr Gordon Molefe says he is satisfied with the work done thus far of the cordon fence which stretches from Ramotswa areas up to Werda and covers a distance of 350km. 

In an interview in Tsoaneng where a team from the command centre went to  assess progress and assist with erection of the cordon fence, the director applauded the team and volunteers on the ground for the work done.

He said progress had been made since the fence was launched on June 27. Mr Molefe expressed optimism that the Tsoaneng-Sekhutlhane line, which is approximately 50 kms of virgin land would be completed on time. He reiterated that the cordon fence, which was long overdue, would help in controlling movement of cattle especially during disease out breaks. 

Mr Molefe said he was happy that the spread of Foot and Mouth Disease seemed to be slowing down.

Meanwhile, Botswana Prisons Service representative divulged that they would soon avail prisoners who were on extra-mural exercise to beef up the manpower. The Botswana Defence Force also said they would increase their manpower on the ground.

When updating the team, the district agricultural coordinator Mr Phetogo Molefi-Tshuma said the community was cooperative. ENDS
