Gowa JSS computer lab to be operational soon

11 Feb 2013

The Assistant Minister of Education and Skills Development, Mr Patrick Masimolole says he is aware that the computer laboratory at Gowa Junior Secondary School has never been operational since the school opened in 2010.

Mr Masimolole said this was due to the fact that the server was not configured and that the laboratory was equipped with unsuitable furniture. “Both of these items were part of the project scope,” he explained.

Mr Masimolole said his ministry had since configured and installed the computers whilst appropriate furniture had been ordered, adding that the computer laboratory would be operational before the end of this financial year.

Okavango MP, Mr Bagalatia Arone had asked the minister if he was aware that the computer laboratory at Gowa Junior Secondary School had never been operational since the school opened in 2010. He also wanted the minister to explain what led to the situation in view of the fact that information technology was central to proper learning.

Mr Arone also wanted to know when the laboratory would be operational. ENDS
