Debswana donates cultural centre

Debswana Jwaneng Mine, through its socio-economic development programme, on Friday, donated the Mmalekwa Cultural Heritage Centre valued at P1.7 million
The heritage Centre is established within the Mmalekwa Royal Cemetery where Bangwaketse Dikgosi, missionaries and colonial administrators were buried.
The Centre is expected to help diversify the economy of GaNgwaketse by attracting tourists and scholars as it will host the digital library of the existing graves at Mmalekwa.
Speaking during the handover, Jwaneng Mine General Manager, Mr Goitseone Gadifele said the Centre, through its preservation of Ngwaketse history, would serve upcoming generations and attract tourists and generate economic diversification in the corridor.
Kgosi Malope II of Bangwaketse promised that the Centre would go a long way in generating income for the trust. ENDS
