First Lady Kaone Boko on July 9, donated blankets, mattresses, a stove, a printer and other essentials to Matsha College, saying the gesture was part of efforts to heal and restore the school’s reputation after the 2015 Dutlwe road accident that claimed seven students.
Speaking at the donation ceremony as part of the National Healing, Remembrance and Closure Programme, Ms Boko said remembrance should go beyond monuments and focus on investments that promote healing and improve learning conditions.
She urged learners to work hard and listen to teachers, adding that education was one of life’s greatest equalisers. Ms Boko also highlighted the Mpepu Programme, her office’s flagship initiative to protect and nurture vulnerable children, saying ‘every child deserves to be in an environment where they can learn, grow and flourish.’
She paid tribute to teachers for their role in shaping the future, noting that much of her own success came from educators who believed in her.
Kgosi Basadi Seipone III of Kang welcomed the First Lady’s gesture and expressed hope it would boost the school’s academic performance, describing the Ms Boko as a caring parent to the nation’s children.” ENDS
