District development requires intentionality - Kapinga
29 Jun 2026
Okavango West MP, Mr Kenny Kapinga has urged his constituents to combine efforts to ensure the Okavango district throve.
Addressing a kgotla meeting in Shakawe recently, the Okavango West legislator emphasised the need for a strategy and deliberate efforts towards development of the district.
Mr Kapinga said that could be made possible through collaboration, cooperation and smarter cooperation between key stakeholders such as Land Board, Local Authority and others in the district.
He observed that Shakawe, as the Okavango West constituency and proposed Okavango District headquarters, was strategically located and had potential to become a city in future.
Mr Kapinga therefore said optimising the tourism and other sectors would boost Shakawe and the entire Okavango District hence realise desired developments.
He urged government and parastatal employees to change ways of doing business and shy away from corruption which he said had negatively contributed to the country’s economy collapse.
Further, Mr Kapinga said refurbishment of Sehithwa-Mohembo road remained top priority in the district since it would aid development by attracting work force and investors. ENDS
