Tshimoyapula Pulls Together For Development

23 Jun 2026

The initiatives, whose groundbreaking was done recently, are being driven through collaboration between the Village Development Committee Social and Community Development and community members under the Sustainable Livelihoods Approach Initiative.

According to Serowe North Member of Parliament and Assistant Minister of Trade and Entrepreneurship, Mr Baratiwa Mathoothe, the projects were more than infrastructure developments, as they symbolised the resilience, determination and unity of the people of Tshimoyapula.

“Every classroom built and every toilet constructed represents hope, opportunity and progress,” he said.

Mr Mathoothe noted that access to proper sanitation was not merely a matter of convenience but one of health, dignity and human wellbeing.

He said the toilet project would contribute significantly to improving public health while enhancing the quality of life for households.

The reception classroom is expected to play a critical role in early childhood education. By providing a safe and conducive learning environment, the facility will help prepare young learners for their academic journey.

Equally important, he said, was the decision to rely on local participation in implementing the projects. Beyond delivering social benefits, the approach creates opportunities for skills development and local economic empowerment.

Tshimoyapula Primary School head teacher, Ms Patricia Lesole, said investing in early childhood education was investing in the future of the community.

She explained that providing learners with a nurturing environment would help them develop the literacy, numeracy and social skills needed for future success.

Ms Lesole said success began long before a child started Standard One, saying the facility would help bridge developmental gaps and ensure that children start edtheir educational journey on a strong footing. ENDS
