Hikers navigate dynamic Lobatse landscape
20 Jun 2026
Scores of hikers today navigated uneven, and the dynamic hilly, sandy and urban terrains boldly bracing the chilly, and drizzling weather during the Lobatse Heritage hike.
Organised by Keep Walking Hiking Club, hikers took purposeful strides on the 10km hiking trail exploring Lobatse’s historic sites which include the Fish Keitseng monument, Botswana’s first military base, the Samora Machel monument, Peleng gorge, Peleng dam, Mandela's hideout spot as well as enjoyed bird's eye view of the town at the summit of the Peleng hill.
Hikers also had the opportunity to plant fruit trees at Peleng Kgotla under the Tree365 initiative by the club toward environmental sustainability as trees are essential for human and environmental survival as well as combat climate change. ENDS
