Provision could not be made for replacement of all the furniture and air conditioners at Gaborone West Community Hall during financial year 2013/14, due to financial constraints.

The Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said provision had however been made for 2014/15 for replacement of some furniture and the repair of air conditioners.

Responding to a parliamentary question from the Member of Parliament for Gaborone West South, Mr Botsalo Ntuane on Tuesday, February 25 Ms Tshireletso said this replacement would be budgeted for on an annual basis, resources permitting.

MP Ntuane had asked the assistant minister if she was aware that the Social and Community Development officers based at Gaborone West Community Hall were using dilapidated furniture and that their offices were not air conditioned.

He said if that was the situation, the minister should state when the offices would be fitted with air conditioners and furnished. ENDS
