Second Round Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign starts

The Ministry of Local Government and Traditional Affairs in collaboration with the Ministry of Health kick-starts the second round of the National Oral Polio Vaccination Campaign today. The campaign, which runs from June 8 to 11, 2026 aims to protect all children under five years (0 – 59 months) against poliomyelitis (polio), a highly infectious disease that can cause permanent paralysis and disability. Furthermore, it seeks to strengthen population immunity and prevent the potential spread of the virus particularly among vulnerable children.The ministry encourages parents and caregivers to present all children who received the Oral polio vaccine during the first round of the campaign for vaccination as well as those who missed vaccination during the first round.
