As Botswana continues to push for economic diversification through agriculture and digital transformation, Lords Insurance says it is aligning its offerings to meet the evolving needs of farmers, businesses and individuals across the country.
Speaking during the company’s formal launch, managing director, Mr Victor Nnoi said the insurer provided specialised cover for crop production, horticulture and livestock farming, among other tailored insurance solutions designed to support the agricultural sector.
“We are reminded of the essential role insurance plays in protecting the future, preserving value and providing peace of mind to individuals, families and businesses.”
He said the company also offered cyber security insurance cover, aimed at protecting businesses and institutions against increasing digital risks, including data breaches and other technology-related threats.
“We therefore invested a lot of time in understanding the regulatory environment and establishing a firm foundation for responsible and sustainable operations.”
In an interview, goat farmer Tshepo Neke said insurance played a critical role in giving farmers peace of mind, noting that livestock farming came with significant risks such as theft, disease outbreaks and unexpected losses.
“As a goat farmer, insurance gives me peace of mind because farming comes with many risks. If my goats are stolen, get sick, or something unexpected happens, I know I have support and won’t lose everything overnight. It gives me security and confidence to continue working hard without constant fear,” she said.
She added that insurance was also key for long-term investment and growth, helping farmers plan ahead and build more stable and sustainable businesses.
“Insurance is also important for future investment. The more I grow my farm and protect it through insurance, the more stable and secure my business becomes. It helps me plan ahead, make profits and reach my long-term goals with peace of mind,” she said.
Neke further said insurance could be particularly empowering for women in agriculture, as it protected their effort, capital and time invested in farming.
“For women farmers especially, insurance can be empowering because it protects the effort, money and time invested in farming. It encourages us to expand our farms, buy better livestock and improve production knowing there is a safety net in difficult times,” she said.
Established in 2023 and commencing operations in 2025, Lords Insurance said it remained committed to building a 100 per cent citizen-owned insurer anchored on trust, sustainability and customer-focused service delivery. ENDS
