Dintsana is a communal grazing area

26 May 2026

Maokane Sub-land board deputy secretary, Mr Odirile Rapelang, has informed Moshupa sub-land board that Dintsana is a communal grazing area that falls in three districts.

Mr Rapelang was responding to Councillor Omphemetse Ramoleele who had requested an update on the expected date of land allocation at Dintsana.

He stated that there were two layouts at Seherelela and Sesung, with Seherelela approved in 2024 and Sesung in 2023.

He indicated that there were 672 residential plots at Sesung and 30 plots for other uses whilst Seherelela has 380 residential plots and 14 plots for other uses.

Mr Rapelang explained that land allocation for people who reside at Dintsana would be conducted at Seherelela as it is a ward that falls under Seherelela.

Councillor Omphemetse Ramoleele of Sesung/Seherelela argued that Dintsana was declared a settlement but was not aware how it was declared. He asked whether people were misled in to thinking that they would be allocated land at Dintsana.

For his part Councillor Ronald Lekokoma of Moshupa North-West also argued that Dintsana was a settlement that has a ward and a borehole.

Commenting on the issue Councillor Omphile Motlhajoe said it has since been in their knowledge that land allocation would be conducted at Dintsana. He was of the view that Mr Rapelang could be referring to Dintsana portion of land that did not fall in their district.

The Council Chairperson, Mr Peter Sethibe, said he has addressed a meeting at Dintsana three times whereupon residents informed him that they have been promised to be allocated land at Dintsana.

In response, Mr Rapelang indicated that he has since been at Maokane in 2023 and was not aware of any plans to allocate land at Dintsana.

The landboard, he said, continued receiving land applications for residential plots and farms at Dintsana but denied any promises of land allocation.

He however acknowledged that there were people at Dintsana who have residential certificates which have been registered in 2016 and nothing has been decided yet on whether the certificates should be nullified or not.

Moshupa District Commissioner, Ms Kolobetso Sejakgomo stated that there were plans to assist Dintsana residents on how public services could be availed to them; emphasizing that it was not yet a village but was under Seherelela. ENDS
