Clash of Legends gets P1.5million Boost

Betway has sponsored the fourth edition of Clash of the Legends with P1.5 million.
The edition will be held on June 20 at the National Stadium. Participating teams are Mochudi Centre Chiefs, Township Rollers and South African clubs, Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates.
Speaking at a sponsorship launch in Gaborone Tuesday, Betway country manager Michele France-Mabiletsa said with the sponsorship they were reshaping the tournament’s identity.
She said their goal was to ensure that the tournament was bigger, adding that their intention was to give football legends the grand stand they deserved.
“Beyond the goals, the entertainment and the trophies, this tournament carries a deeply profound mission. At its core Betway Clash of the Legends is a charitable,” she said.
The community, she said, had also witnessed the harsh reality that many football icons faced after they hanged up their boots.
“The very men who gave their passion of football find themselves struggling in silence during post career years,” she said.
France-Mabiletsa said Clash of the Legends aim was to change the narrative, and the proceeds and support from the tournament were directly targeted at providing a lifeline to the legends in need of the support.
“This sponsorship is our way of saying we see you, we remember, and we will not forget your contribution, it is about restoring dignity to our heroes both financially and socially when they need it most,” she said.
Clash of Legends project coordinator Sekhana Koko said what started as a bold vision to celebrate football heritage and reconnect generations through sport has now grown into one of the most anticipated football entertainment events on the local sporting calendar.
As part of the event, he said activities would commence on June 19 with a welcome dinner and a coaching clinic, creating a platform not only for celebration but also for mentorship, knowledge sharing and development of the next generation of football talent.
“This year’s edition marks a significant and exciting return to the city of Gaborone after last year’s successful Four Nations edition held in Francistown. On June 20, 2026, National Stadium will once again come alive,” he said.
He said the first match starts at 10 am , second at 12 pm , third place play off at 4pm, and the final will be at 6pm.
Koko said tickets will be sold from this Friday, and grandstands price is P100, Panda is P70 while North and South ticket prices are P50. ends
