Molelwa calls for a joint cultural event

It is in the best interest of the diverse tribes residing in the Okavango District, to come up with a collaborative cultural event that would unite them.
The event would celebrate their rich cultural diversity and heritage while strengthening unity of Hambukushu, Wayeyi and Basarwa, tribes found in the region.
Kgosi Moitshepi Molelwa of Gumare suggested, during the recent Wayeyi Cultural Festival that was held in Gumare. The same sentiments are shared by Wayeyi community Royal representative from Namibia, Mashazi Qamaywa, who appreciated the ties shared by the Wayeyi in Namibia and Botswana, who advocated for the preservation of the Wayeyi legacy through festivals and documentation.
He said more could be done through hosting inter-games and bilingual story telling activities.
The Wayeyi are known for being peaceful and co-existing well with other cultural groups, a virtue that should be preserved in Botswana and Namibia, said Qamaywa. ends
