Stanbic Bank invests P500000 in padel court

Stanbic Bank Botswana has launched the first padel court of its kind in Maun worth over P500,000.

Situated at BMC Sports Club premises, the padel court is expected encourage community engagement, serve as vital infrastructure for leisure time physical activity in urban areas.

Stanbic bank chief executive officer, Chose Modise stated that they saw an opportunity to invest in the padel court, one of the growing sports globally and must move with the times.

According to the International Padel Federation, he said there were now over 35 million players globally, across more than 150 countries and Botswana should not be left behind.

“At Stanbic, we respond to the local need for spaces that bring people together and that is why we spent over P500,000 in this investment. Maun is evolving and with that growth comes rising expectations of what the town can offer. We recognise that the time was right to invest in a facility like this in one of Botswana’s most important economic centres,” he added.

Modise further appreciated that Maun supports tourism, empowered small and medium enterprises and it continues to develop as a vibrant commercial hub.

He also reaffirmed the bank’s commitment to investing in initiatives that created long term and shared value citing that they would continue to support sport, to support communities and to ensure that growth is not only measured in numbers but in the opportunities created for the people.

Member of Parliament for Maun East, Goretetse Kekgonegile applauded the bank for its continued support toward the sporting fraternity in Botswana noting that over the years, the bank had been supporting football and many other sporting codes and recently, the World Relays.  ENDS
