Organisers Postpone Khawa Dune Challenge

25 Apr 2026

Fans of the Khawa Dune Challenge & Cultural Festival will have to wait a little longer for the engines to roar, as organisers have postponed the 2026 edition to next year.

Originally slated for May 15–17, the event was moved following deep consultations with the Botswana Tourism Organisation, the Ministry of Tourism, and the Khawa village leadership.

The decision serves as a proactive measure to support government efforts in containing Foot and Mouth Disease, protecting the livestock and livelihoods of the local Khawa community.

Organisers also cited a lack of sufficient funding to meet the high quality and safety standards the public has come to expect. Rather than hosting a scaled-back version without its signature motorsport or horse racing, the team has opted for a 'bigger and stronger' comeback in 2027.

Incepta Communications, the event managers, apologised for the inconvenience but emphasised that planning for the 2027 return begins immediately.

The organisation is now inviting private sector partners to join them in delivering a renewed and even more impactful experience for the region. ENDS
