Following the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease in Zone 11 at Ramatlabama National Artificial Insemination Laboratory and Training Centre in Good Hope District, government continues to intensify livestock vaccination and surveillance  in Zone 11.

Department of Veterinary Services, senior veterinary officer for Lobatse, Dr Vincent Kgathi said so far they had vaccinated over 4 000 cattle in the area.

So far, he said surveillance and vaccination in the communal grazing areas and commercial farms in the outskirts of Lobatse was progressing well.

However, he said the only setback was the rainy weather which made it difficult to round up cattle.

Additionally, he said livestock farmers cooperated well with veterinary officers by bringing their livestock and opening up their farms for surveillance and vaccination. ENDS
