Funding shortfall stalls integrated office block in Lobatse

Mr Moswaane said while the ministry appreciated the importance of the project and its timely implementation, the necessary funding to start development was not yet available, despite government’s commitment to fulfilling community requests.
“Since the tenure of the late Honourable Ronald Sebego, the office block has not been consistently included in subsequent Urban Development Plans (UDPs) and National Development Plans (NDPs),” the assistant minister said.
He acknowledged that the project would positively impact local economies, efficient service delivery and the quality of life for residents of Lobatse and its hinterlands.
“However, current financial constraints have forced its suspension,” he said.
He assured Parliament that government remained committed to undertaking the project once the country’s finances improved.
This was in response to a question by Member of Parliament for Lobatse, Mr Kamal Jacobs, who had asked the minister to state whether it was time to consider constructing government integrated offices in Lobatse, that were promised during the late Sebego’s tenure. ENDS
