24 Feb 2014
The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (LGRD) started computerising customary courts in 2001.
Responding to a question in Parliament, the Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Ms Botlogile Tshireletso said out of the 461 customary courts countrywide, 212 were computerised.
She said the ministry planned to connect the remaining 249 customary courts, incrementally over the remaining years of this plan period and into NDP 11. Ms Tshireletso said the ministry would award a tender for the installation of Local Area Network (LAN) in 24 customary courts by the end of March.
She was responding to a question asked by the Member of Parliament for Lobatse, Mr Nehemiah Modubule who wanted to know when the customary courts would be computerised. Ends
