BDF Cats women were on Sunday crowned 2026 champions of the Jwaneng Netball Extravaganza. The team snatched the championship trophy by defeating the host, arch-rivals and defending champion, Jwaneng Netball Club 35-32 in a closely contested encounter. The two were pitted against each other in the finals after beating Police and Young Buffalos 35-28 and 53-13 in the semi-finals respectively. The 3-point margin denied the Diamond Girls the opportunity to retain the championship which they won from last year’s inaugural tournament. Police women were relegated from last year’s second position to third, ending the tournament as Bronze medalist. In the male category, Green Lightening walloped Notwane 55-32 to carry the trophy all the way to Eswatini, while BDF Cats put on a strong fight against Police to finish the tournament with Bronze medals with a 43-28 score board. Jwaneng Mine General Manager, Goitseone Gadifele said the netball extravaganza formed part of the overall objective of transforming Jwaneng into a sporting hub. ENDS
