Mochudi -Malolwane route registers 22 new applications

24 Mar 2026

The Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has issued 12 passenger permits to 10 operators for the Mochudi-Malolwane route.

Answering a question in Parliament on Monday, Minister Noah Salakae said five of the permits had since expired.

Minister Salakae added that no permits had been issued for the Malolwane-Oliphant’s Drift or Modipane-Mabalane routes, as the ministry had not yet received any applications for them.

He emphasised that his office was ready to process applications for such routes, or any others, should there be interest from the public.

He pointed out that the ministry had already received 22 new applications for the Mochudi-Malolwane route.

“Following the adjudication process, these are expected to increase the existing quota,” he said.

The minister was responding to a parliamentary question from Member of Parliament for Kgatleng East, Mr Mabuse Pule, who had sought clarity on the number of permits issued for the Malolwane-Oliphant’s Drift and Modipane-Mabalane routes.

Mr Pule also inquired whether government intended to increase the permit quotas for such routes and when such increases might take effect to allow for new applications. BOPA
