Ministry Acquires Fields For New Plots

18 Mar 2026

Ngwaketse Land Board has acquired three ploughing fields at Sese, under Maokane Sub Land Board for village expansion, Parliament has heard. Answering a question in Parliament on Tuesday, acting Minister of Lands and Agriculture, Dr Edwin Dikoloti said the total area for the acquired fields was approximately 280 hectares, which was estimated to yield 2 000 residential plots and few business plots within the same layout. Dr Dikoloti said there was one ploughing field which was still not yet repossessed due to incomplete process of compensation. “The process of repossession of this particular ploughing field was anticipated to commence as soon the grantees submits the name of person authorised for compensation. The base map is still under preparation, however the site reconnaissance has been completed and a detailed design is expected to be concluded by the end of September 2026, which will then be presented to various committees for consideration and approval,” he said, adding that there had been no acquisition or repossession of plots under Mabutsane Sub Land Board and there were no plots available for advertisement. Jwaneng/Mabutsane MP, Mr Omphemetse Kwapa, had asked the minister to indicate categorically the number of plots which had been repossessed by Ngwaketse land Board, Maokane Sub Land Board and Mabutsane Sub Land Board and whether there had been advertisements for such plots to be allocated to applicants.
